STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza has announced the resignation of District 1 Alder Tori Jennings, effective immediately.
According to an email from Mayor Mike Wiza obtained by WSAU News, the city will consider four options for filling the vacancy. This includes leaving the seat vacant until the next municipal election, taking applications and filling the vacancy through an interview process and vote of the current council, or holding a special election at full cost to the city.
Wiza notes that if the board takes applications and interviews, the chosen individual could serve until either April of 2022 or 2023. He also notes that his preference is to fill the seat through an interview process until April ’22, then allow the voters of District 1 to decide their next representative.
No reason for Jennings’ resignation was given.
