KNOWLTON, WI (WSAU) – Major changes are coming to the I-39 exit at Highway 34 in Knowlton.
The interchange will have a roundabout installed along with new pavement and signage.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced the $2.6 million project on Thursday. Work will begin on August 8, and should be completed in November, weather dependant.
The project is moving forward because of a high number of crashes in the area.
During construction, there will be lane restrictions and flagging operations at I-39 and Highway 34, but the interchange will remain open. Local access on Highway 34 will be maintained. A portion of Old Highway 51 and County Road DB will be closed during the project.
A1 Excavating of Bloomer is the lead contractor for the road work.
