MILWAUKEE, WI (MetroSourcve-WSAU) — Greece basketball will be without its best player for the FIBA World Cup.
Giannis Antetokounmpo announced Friday he won’t compete in the tournament as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery. The two-time MVP said, “This was not a choice but my only option in ensuring I get back to the level of basketball I have worked so hard to achieve.”
The Bucks said last month that Giannis underwent surgery to remove loose cartilage in his left knee.
