Gloriann Doyle
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The former Town of Bergern Clerk found guilty of taking more than $100,000 from the community’s checkbook will serve prison time for theft and forgery.
Gloriann Doyle was sentenced on Monday morning to six years in the state prison system, including four years in prison and two years on extended supervision. She will also pay nearly $242,000 in restitution to the Town and to the Wisconsin Valley Art Association, which she also stole from during her time on the group’s board.
The sentence is part of a plea deal that was reached in early August. Doyle pleaded guilty to six counts, with five counts dismissed but read into the record. She was handed individual sentences for all six counts, which will run concurrently, meaning the longest sentence (six years) will determine the length of her punishment.
Court records show six victim impact statements were read during the sentencing.
Her sentence also includes a no-contact order with all named victims in the case and a formal letter of apology to both groups. She will also be barred from managing financial accounts or records without approval from her agent.
