WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A sad ending to the search for a missing dog.
In mid-March the Marathon County Humane Society asked the community’s help in finding a dog who got loose and ran off after getting spayed in Kronenwetter. The 1-year-old female lab mix named Tux body was found on Wednesday with a broken spine according to a post on the Marathon County Humane Society’s Facebook page.

The post reads, “This isn’t the reunion I hoped for but it is an answer instead of a forever question. I had hoped to be able to give you so much more, Tux. Maybe she was trying to come back home to us, that hurts even more than crying over her broken body on the floor of the intake office. I’m so sorry Tux. We love you and we never gave up,”.
The Humane Society was notified of a lab mix hit by a car on Highway 29 just west of the 72nd Ave. exit. The Humane Officer picked up the body and brought it to the shelter’s intake room for scanning and disposal. The collar and the microchip number of the body matched Tux’s records.
The post says the driver who hit Tux didn’t stop but another driver called in the incident. The Humane Society thanks the community for their help during the search and for not giving up hope to find Tux.
