WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Department of Public Works is once again taking orders for rain barrels from interested residents.
Rain barrels hook up to your home’s gutter system to collect rainwater as it runs off your roof. Once collected, it can be used to water plants, gardens, or your lawn. The process saves water from entering the storm sewer and can save water customers money on their bills by not using as much water from the city’s water system.
Customers of the utility will pay $50. Those who aren’t customers can order a barrel for $75.
The last day to place orders will be Wednesday, May 25th. Barrels will be delivered to Wausau Water Works for pickup on June 7th and 8th from 3 PM to 7 PM each day.
