CHICAGO, Ill (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 4-1 on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field. The win makes Milwaukee the first major league team to reach 80 victories this season.
Brice Turang hit a two run homer in the second and Issac Collins drove in two runs with a single in the 8th inning.
Milwaukee pitching was not particularly sharp on this day but they managed to work out of jams created by 8 walks and hold the Cubs to a single run on a sac-fly. Quinn Priester started but only lasted 4 1/3 innings as he gave up one run on three hits but walked five. Nick Mears picked up the win in relief and Trevor Megill nailed down his 30th save.
The Brewers are seven games up in the Cubs and return home for a weekend series with the San Francisco Giants. You can hear tonight’s game on WSAU…pre game show at 6:35.
