ARPIN, WI (WSAU) — A Wood County woman is dead following a crash Saturday morning.
According to a release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, the dispatch center received a call of a crash involving a UTV and a semi-truck near the intersection of State Highway 186 and County Highway K in the Township of Arpin. When emergency crews arrived at the scene they found the female operator of the UTV suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured in the crash.
An initial investigation into the scene indicated that the UTV and the semi were both traveling westbound on STH 186. The UTV attempted to turn into a driveway off the highway when it collided with the semi-truck. The cause of the crash does remain under investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
