KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Kronenwetter Fire Department and Northcentral Technical College will conduct live-fire training at an acquired structure on Old Hwy 51 this weekend.
WAOW TV reports that multiple fire engines, tenders, and support vehicles will be stationed on and around the property. Firefighters will conduct controlled burns within the structure to simulate real-world fire scenarios.
Parking will be prohibited on the north side of Gate of Heaven Drive and on Old Hwy 51 near the training site. Drivers should use extra care when traveling through the area, as there will be emergency vehicles and personnel at the site throughout the day, and smoke may be visible.
The Kronenwetter Fire Department said training in acquired structures offers realistic layouts that help firefighters master search-and-rescue techniques. Crews also observe how fire spreads through different construction materials, providing critical experience in ventilation and thermal patterns.
