WAUPACA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A citizen turned in dynamite believed to be from the 1920s to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.
The person arrived at the sheriff’s office at 2:26pm with the explosives, which the sheriff’s office says were in poor condition. Due to the age and volatility of the dynamite, authorities monitored it until the joint Brown and Outagamie County Bomb Squad arrived.
Trained bomb technicians collected and transported the dynamite. They detonated it in a safe location.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the joint Brown and Outagamie County Bomb Squad, Waupaca Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, City of Waupaca Public Works, Waupaca County Highway, Waupaca Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
