Milwaukee Brewers
ST. LOUIS, MO (WSAU) — Andrew Vaughn and Jackson Chourio have wasted no time making their marks on the Milwaukee offense after both started the season on the Injured List.
Vaughn belted a three-run home run, and Chourio recorded an RBI double in a 6-2 win over St. Louis on Wednesday.
Jake Bauers added an RBI single, one of his two hits on the day. The Brewers also scored courtesy of a wild pitch in the 5th inning.
Starter Brandon Sproat went four innings, allowing just one hit and three walks. Despite leaving the game with a 4-0 lead, he failed to qualify for the win. Aaron Ashby would earn that with a near-perfect 6th and 7th innings. He allowed one walk and struck out one.
Trevor Megill and Abner Uribe each allowed a run in the last two innings, but it wasn’t enough to spoil the day for the Brewers.
Sproat, who was acquired from the New York Mets in the Freddy Peralta/Tobias Meyers deal in January, has yet to earn his first major-league win.
The win gives the Crew a two-game split over the Cardinals and caps a 3-2 road trip. Milwaukee returns home on Friday for the first of three against the New York Yankees. Pregame coverage begins at 6:05 on WSAU.
