LAND O’ LAKES (WSAU-WAOW) – A fire spread from a burning wood pile to a building on U.S. Highway 45 in the Town of Land O’ Lakes Saturday afternoon.
The Vilas County 911 Center received a call at 2:28 p.m. May 9, reporting smoke at 6373 U.S. Highway 45.
Emergency responders arrived to find a pile of wood burning behind one of the buildings, and the fire had already spread into the structure. The business was closed at the time, and no employees were on scene.
Multiple fire departments responded, including Land O’ Lakes, Conover, Phelps, Eagle River and Watersmeet. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Land O’ Lakes EMS, WE Energy and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
The Land O’ Lakes Fire Department and Vilas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fire.
