GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers officially begin OTAs this afternoon, and head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the media before practice, with most of the focus being on the future of Josh Jacobs with the franchise following his arrest.
When asked about Jacobs’ arrest, LaFleur kept his response short, saying, “I’m going to stick with the statement that we put out as an organization and just let the process play out.” LaFleur also declined to say if the team has had any contact with Jacobs recently.
LaFleur was asked how he feels about the current state of his team’s running back room, saying, “I like the guys that we have, but…you can never have enough, that’s for sure.”
The Packers confirmed on Wednesday morning that today’s scheduled media appearance for players had been canceled, and the team issued a statement regarding Jacobs’ arrest on Tuesday night, saying, “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”
According to a press release, Jacobs will be allowed to leave the Brown County Jail today, and a final charging decision will be made by the District Attorney’s office at a later date, as the investigation into the alleged domestic incident is ongoing.
