RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is opening a public comment period for proposed traffic flow changes at the US 51 northbound ramp to County N/Rib Mountain Drive.
The proposed project, scheduled for 2027, would include replacing portions of the existing concrete pavement and widening the pavement to accommodate dual right-turn lanes. Traffic signals would also be updated to accommodate the dual right-turn lanes.
New pavement markings and signs would also be installed on the ramp.
The proposed changes are a response to a high number of crashes at the intersection. WisDOT data shows 101 accidents in the area, including 81 rear-end collisions and 17 angle crashes
