VILLAGE OF MAINE, WI (WSAU) — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has posted a detour along County Highway K as investigators work at the scene of a traffic fatality.
According to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was involved in a pursuit that originated in Lincoln County. Shortly after noon, the driver crossed into Marathon County and crashed near Highway K and Rainbow Drive.
Officers from Lincoln and Marathon Counties approached the vehicle and found the driver deceased.
No further information about the incident has been released. Because the suspect died, the incident will be investigated by an outside agency. All officers were wearing body cameras and had fully functioning squad car cameras.
As for the detour, northbound traffic is being rerouted to County Roads L and O. Southbound drivers will utilize County Roads FF and O. Drivers traveling through the area should use caution, allow additional travel time, and follow the directions of deputies at the scene.
