WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau School Board has officially scheduled the annual budget meeting for Monday, September 28th.
District leaders approved the schedule on Monday, along with current budget projections. Numbers show the district’s mill rate dropping by four cents, meaning a $200,000 home could see an $8 savings over last year’s bill.
The decline is credited to a drop in the district’s debt servicing budget and an overall increase in district-wide property value. Final numbers will be known in the next three weeks.
District leaders will vote to implement the budget in late October.
Of course, the school district budget is one part of the tax bill. City, County, and Technical College leaders will finalize their spending plans by the end of November. Tax bills will then go out by mid-December.
