MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — If you’re going to be out riding your ATV or UTV this winter, be sure to stay on posted trails.
DNR Warden Jake Holsclaw says that means staying off designated snowmobile trails.
“There are some trails that are basically open year round to all different forms of recreational vehicles, but you’ve got to check with your local county to make sure that it’s okay to drive on them,” said Holsclaw.
Many snowmobile trails run through private property, and offroad vehicles may not be allowed.
Holsclaw also urges riders to wear helmets and use all safety equipment including seatbelts.
