PITTSBURGH, PA (WSAU) – Gary Sánchez hit a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the eighth inning that lifted the Brewers past the Pirates for their second straight win.
Milwaukee’s offense got going early, with William Contreras hitting a leadoff home run to left center, continuing his streak as one of the hottest hitters in baseball with a .365 batting average and a whopping 22 RBIs so far this season. First baseman Rhys Hoskins had a strong game as well, going three for five with two RBIs.
However, it was a tough day for Brewers ace Freddy Peralta, who only pitched 4.2 innings on Thursday, giving up five earned runs on five walks with the win going to Jared Koenig who pitched one inning giving up two hits and no runs.
On Friday, Milwaukee will welcome the Yankees home for a three-game series, with Colin Rea starting on the mound for Milwaukee and Luis Gil starting for New York.
