MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Konnor Griffin celebrated his 20th birthday with his first major-league home run, and Paul Skenes shut down the Milwaukee bats in a 6-0 Pirates win on Friday.
Jake Bauers recorded the only hit of the day for the Crew. Brice Turang recorded the only walk. Brandon Woodruff went five innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs.
Griffin added two singles to go with his third-inning solo blast, the only home run of the day for the Pirates. Brandon Lowe and Oneil Cruz each added doubles. Starting Pitcher Paul Skenes went seven innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven.
For the now-20-year-old Griffin, it was his first three-hit game in the big leagues.
The same two teams will play again tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 5:35 on WSAU.
