MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly given a promise to one of the 2026 NBA Draft’s top prospects.
According to Stein Line NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Bucks sent a contingent to New York City, including GM Jon Horst, head coach Taylor Jenkins, and their top scouts, to visit and hold a private workout with Tennessee forward Nate Ament, which led to sources telling the Stein Line that Ament’s camp declined to workout for the Golden State Warriors, who have the pick after the Bucks at 11th overall in next week’s draft.
NBA Scout Evan Tomes notes that Ament, who is 19 years old, stands 6-9, 205 lbs, “possesses excellent length and a smooth, coordinated frame that allows him to handle the ball and make plays in ways uncommon for his size,” and “displays touch on fadeaway jumpers and mid-post scoring situations, where he can exploit mismatches.”
However, Tomes also notes that “consistency and efficiency remain key concerns, as reflected in his 39.9% FG and 33.3% 3PT shooting splits,” and that his injury history over the last year may be concerning after he suffered a high ankle sprain on February 24 against Missouri and aggravated it further by injuring his right knee on February 28 against Alabama.
This report comes only weeks after Bucks part-owner Jimmy Haslam, a Tennessee alumnus, informed Bucks media members that he expects to have a larger role with the team going forward and donated $130 million to the institution, making him the school’s highest all-time donor. The Haslam College of Business will receive $100 million from the donation to hire academics, fund scholarships, and support student achievement initiatives, while the remaining $30 million will be used across the institution to recruit top scholars and support research, innovation, and discovery.
