CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI (WSAU) — No, there wasn’t an active shooter situation at a Chippewa Falls Elementary School today.
Parents and residents became worried after a report of an active situation at Parkview Elementary School was circulated on social media. District officials released a statement saying that wasn’t the case. Instead, law enforcement was working with the district and local emergency management teams to conduct a live training.
” Radio communications related to that training were picked up by an individual monitoring public scanner traffic and shared without the context that it was a drill,” said Superintendent Jeff Holmes. “We are grateful for the preparedness work our first responders do every day to keep our schools safe.”
Holmes adds that only law enforcement, emergency management, and other invited participants were at the school. There was no danger to the public
