MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks and five other teams have agreed to a deal sending a variety of picks and players to new teams.
According to ClutchPoints Brett Siegel, the Bucks have acquired veteran guard Caris LeVert and two second-round picks from the Pistons, while also sending veteran players Taurean Prince and Gary Harris to Detroit, as Milwaukee continues to offload older players in favor of draft picks and younger players who fit new head coach Taylor Jenkins’ system.
The trade also featured the Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Washington Wizards. Former Buck Khris Middleton, who turns 35 next month, was also involved in the deal, as Dallas agreed to send him back to the Wizards, who inked him to a new three-year contract worth just under $18 million.
LeVert made headlines after being diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) in January 2021, after a tumor was discovered on his left kidney during a physical following his trade to the Indiana Pacers. He underwent surgery to remove the malignant growth and recovered completely, with no more treatment required.
LeVert, 31, was a first-round pick by the Indiana Pacers in 2016 and averaged 7.4 points and 2.7 assists for the Pistons last season. However, he performed better in the Eastern Conference Semifinals series against Cleveland, averaging 9.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. With Giannis Antetokounmpo now officially in Miami, LeVert will likely see a lot of minutes off the bench next season as the Bucks look to find consistent scoring while new stars Tyler Herro and Kel’el Ware aren’t on the court.
