TOWN OF RICHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — One person was injured after an attempted traffic stop turned into a motorcycle chase in Wood County over the weekend.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to an area along County Road N for a report of a motorcycle driving erratically. Officers attempted to pull the rider over, but they sped off.
The driver, later identified as 57-year-old Kyle Wendt of Marshfield, continued on County Road N, then turned north on Lincoln Avenue. He lost control of the motorcycle and crashed near Clark Avenue.
Wendt was hospitalized for his injuries. As of Sunday night, he was still listed in critical condition. Officers believe that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
No further information was released. It’s unclear if Wendt will be charged in connection with the incident.
