MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The State Elections Commission says now is not the time to mail in a completed absentee ballot.
Those who haven’t yet returned the completed ballot should drop it off at the local clerk’s office or an approved ballot dropbox, if your community has one. Slow mail service and postmarking delays mean there is no guarantee that a ballot mailed today will be delivered in time to be counted.
Voters may have the option to return their ballot on election day at their polling place or a central count location as well.
Anyone who hasn’t yet made a plan to vote should start by checking their voter registration status and polling place at myvote.wi.gov. Those who aren’t registered can do so on election day at their polling place.
Voters should also remember that the August 11th election is a partisan primary, meaning you will declare party affiliation at the top of your ballot and only mark races for that party. Votes cast in other parties will not be counted.
As always, voters must show photo ID at the polls. More information on acceptable photo IDs can be found on the MyVote website.
