TOWN OF HULL, WI (WSAU) — Bond has been set for a Stevens Point man accused of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and felony hit-and-run.
Samuel Milkey appeared in court on Friday, less than 24 hours after he was taken into custody. Investigators believe he was intoxicated when his vehicle struck a pedestrian on an electric-powered skateboard along Jordan Road in the Town of Hull.
First responders were called to the area at about 8:20 Thursday evening in response to a report of a hit-and-run crash. They caught up to the driver later in the evening, who was identified as the 30-year-old Milkey.
The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries. His name has not been released, and officers have not provided an update on his condition. Officers added that the victim had been seen riding the electric skateboard along Jordan Road near Jordan Park on several occasions.
During Friday’s court appearance, prosecutors suggested a $150,000 cash bond. Judge Patricia Baker halved that, setting bond at $75,000 cash with several conditions, including a full no-contact order against the victim and absolute sobriety from alcohol.
Court records also indicate that Milkey was issued a citation for a first-offense OWI, causing injury. Further court action on the felony charges is scheduled for September 21st.
