WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — An 18-year-old Wausau man was arrested for first-offense OWI, after crashing into multiple parked vehicles early Saturday morning on South Fifth Avenue.
Officers were investigating a separate OWI case on South Fifth Avenue when they heard a loud crash a few blocks south, according to the Wausau Police Department. Additional officers responded and found the crash had just occurred.
The driver told police he was traveling more than twice the speed limit on South Fifth Avenue when he crossed the railroad crossing, lost control and struck multiple parked vehicles. No one suffered significant injuries.
Police reminded the public that resources are available to help people get home safely after drinking, including calling a friend, a cab or a rideshare service.
