TOWN OF HILES, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A 69-year-old man died after his vehicle left the roadway, rolled over and ejected him at the intersection of Highway E and Highway 54 in the town of Hiles in Wood County.
Emergency dispatchers received a call reporting the single-vehicle crash at approximately 8:39 a.m. Sunday. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Pittsville Ambulance responded to the scene.
Initial evidence indicated the vehicle collided with the ditch before rolling over. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Wood County Coroner’s Office was contacted to assist with the investigation.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
