(247NEWSSOURCE) – The Green Bay Packers are adding another former first-round draft pick to its beleaguered offensive line.
The team signed guard Mekhi Becton yesterday, hoping he can bring some stability to the unit.
Becton was the 11th overall pick of the New York Jets in 2020, and spent last season with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Green Bay also signed 2015 first-round guard Laken Tomlinson over the weekend.
With those players joining the roster, Packers coach Matt LaFleur had questions to answer from the media on Monday.
For example, has 0ffensive line struggles taken him by surprise and is he second guessing anything they would have done differently to prevent where they’re at now?
Against Atlanta, the first 15 plays were 12 passes and 3 runs. Is LaFleur thinking he needs to figure out a way to see the ball move?
LaFleur talked about sticking with the run game when it’s not working.
What was the message to players returning from the weekend?
LaFleur said that they have to focus on themselves improving.
New guy: New offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson talked about signing with the Packers.
He also talked about what it’s like getting a crash course in the offense.
Just chill, people: Packers safety Xavier McKinney says that despite the ugly start to the season, he feels the Packers will dig out of this.
He said that people should – to borrow from Aaron Rodgers- just relax.
Tight end Tucker Kraft said that the team is not panicking.
Kraft did say that personally, he is not happy with his drops of late.
He also revisited his comments about the fans booing.
The Packers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday at noon.
